And the king said to Zadok, "Return the ark of God to the city. If I find favor in the sight of the Lord, then He will bring me back again, and show me both it and His habitation."

David, the king, now deposed, left the his capitol. Weeping, barefooted, with his head covered, on his way to exile, shows trust and a firm resolve in the Lord. Leaving his life and the kingdom in the hands of the Lord, he becomes a doer of God's word in Romans 8:28. "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." A great example for all of us, that the Lord is working on our behalf, through the good and bad.
